We love attention to detail! And this vibrant buttercream recipe from Amoretti combines classic vanilla with warming spice and rich, natural color. Pair with vanilla or rich chocolate sponge cake or, for a rustic fruity twist, apple or pear cake.
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
8 oz mascarpone
¼ cup cream
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp Amoretti Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon W.S.
½ tsp Amoretti Dark Spice Extract W.S.
2 tsp beet powder (for a deep pink color), optional
Put the butter and mascarpone into a mixer and paddle until well combined and fluffy. Add the extracts followed by the sugar, and finally the cream. If coloring the frosting, add the beet powder at the end and mix until just combined.
