Summer is almost over. Before it ends, grab your swimsuits and head to the beach, and don’t forget your rubber inner tubes! The decorative donut craze has well and truly taken off. These cute, on-trend donuts can be seen in all the donut stores and featured in all kinds of parties and celebrations; from birthdays to weddings, they can even be a fun activity for kids! The design possibilities are endless. Here are 9 of our favorite designs we’ve created using the Renshaw and Rainbow Dust range.

Start by coloring Royal Icing with Yellow, Pink, Baby Blue, Green, Red, and Turquoise ProGel, wet them down with a tablespoon of water, and flood your favorite ring donuts. You will need: 2 white donuts, 2 baby blue donuts, 1 yellow donut, 1 pink donut, 1 turquoise donut, and 2 red donuts.

Then color White Fondant with Baby Blue, Black, Green, Red, Orange, and Pink ProGel. Cut out a selection of small circles from the Black and Pink Fondant for the eyes and cheeks.

Nigel the Narwhal: Take a baby blue donut, and with the Baby Blue Fondant, cut out a large oval for the flipper, then make the tail. Push in a stick of spaghetti and leave to set. Take some White Fondant and roll into a pointed sausage shape, fold in half, and twist together to create a horn. Trim to size and insert a piece of spaghetti, then set aside. Attach the components to the donut with water. Push in the horn and tail at opposite ends. Using the thicker end of the Black Food Art Pen, draw a small mouth. Add the whites of the eyes using a tiny pinch of White Fondant.

Polly the Pineapple: Take the yellow donut and pipe crisscross lines for the pineapple with some Yellow Royal Icing. Cut out a pineapple leaf shape from the Green Fondant using a template. Insert a piece of spaghetti and leave to set completely. Insert into the top of the donut.

Pam the Panda: Take a white donut, and with the Black Fondant, cut out a selection of large ovals, small ovals, and small circles. Attach the components to the donut with water. Using the thicker end of the Black Food Art Pen, draw a small mouth. Add the whites of the eyes using a tiny pinch of White Fondant.

Clifford the Crab: Take a red donut, and with the Red Fondant, cut out the claws and large ovals for the eyes. Roll the rest into a long sausage and divide into 6 for the legs. Set 2 balls of White Fondant on 2 red sticks of spaghetti for the eyes. Attach the components to the donut with water. Push the eyes into the top of the donut. Using the thicker end of the Black Food Art Pen, draw a small mouth. Add the whites of the eyes using a tiny pinch of White Fondant.

Pete the Party Donut: Take the turquoise donut and sprinkle with multicolored stars and strands before setting. Attach 2 balls of Black Fondant to the ends of 2 black sticks of spaghetti for the arms. Make a party hat out of Blue and White Fondant. Attach the components to the donut with water. Push the arms into the side of the donut. Using the thicker end of the Black Food Art Pen, draw a small mouth. Add the whites of the eyes using a tiny pinch of White Fondant.

Sid and Sally the Starfish: Take the blue donut and sprinkle over crushed cookies before setting. Cut out stars from the Red and Orange Fondant for the starfish. Roll some balls of White and Green Fondant for the bubbles. Paint with Silver Food Paint. Take some White Fondant and roll into a pointed sausage shape, fold in half, and twist together to create a shell, then paint with Gold Food Paint. Attach the components to the donut with water.
