Every year since 2017, KitchenAid selects a new shade for their highly coveted stand mixer as part of their Color of the Year program. “We see this program as a way to stay agile by experimenting with new finishes and hues that capture the current trends while also anticipating what’s next in design,” explains Brittni Pertijs, design manager of color, material, and finish at Whirlpool Corporation.
Fans of the brand come to expect the new release with much fanfare. Butter, a creamy and dreamy shade of yellow, took the food world by storm in 2025. So what can we expect for the new year? Well, the wait is finally over, because KitchenAid just announced the Color of the Year for 2026. Introducing: Spearmint! The company describes it as “a light, uplifting minty-green hue” designed to provide a “calming, yet revitalizing energy.”
It “feels like a mood booster,” explains Pertijs. In addition to the light and vibrant color, the sand finish is what sets the new color apart from similar shades. “We spent a lot of time getting the finish just right. We explored everything from glossy, matte, satin, and textured. Ultimately, we looked to mint leaves for inspiration and wanted to tap into the soft, subtle texture you only notice when you touch them.” The resulting finish “feels both inviting to the eye and soft to the touch.”
Spearmint is a versatile color that “can either stand out as a statement or seamlessly blend into its surroundings,” Pertijs continues. So no matter what your kitchen design is, you’ll have a fresh pop of color waiting for you.
