Christine Clarke owner of the Anticipation Cake Design, a custom cake boutique based in Durham, UK, shares her wonderful tutorial for sweet gypsophila.
Components:
- white gumpaste
- green 26 guage floral wire
- green floral tape
- desicated coconut
- edible glue
Christine says, “This is a miniature tutorial for very easy gypsophila and perfect for a fast filler flower. Life is simply too short to cut hundreds of tiny flowers, I hope you enjoy this easy cheat.”
- Cut 30 gauge wires into 8 pieces, each wire into 4.
- Roll small 1/4 inch balls of white gumpaste.
- Curl the very top end of your floral wire to create a hook, dip into edible glue, insert into gumpaste ball and secure to the wire.
- Place some desiccated coconut into a blender and blend until fine.
- Dip the balls of paste into edible glue and then immediately into the coconut.
- Place into a Styrofoam dummy and leave to dry.
- Cut a 26 gauge floral wire and slowly wire on the gypsophila flowers randomly to create a filler arrangement.
Christine’s Tip: To add the flowers, insert into your cake using a drinking straw or flower pick, this ensures your cake is food safe.
