For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 lb softened butter
  • 2 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 1/2 t lemon
  • 1/2 t almond
  • 6 cups of a.p. flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • pinch-o-salt
1.  Mix butter and sugar, just till incorporated
2.  Add eggs, vanilla, lemon, and almond.  Remember to scrape bowl.
3.  Add flour, salt and baking powder.
4.  Mix till your dough clumps around your paddle
-if dough seems too dry, add tiny bits of water (1/2 tsp at a time)
5.  Divide your dough into two equal parts.  roll out onto plastic wrap.  this allows you to
cut dough after chilling.  chill for at least 30 minutes.
6.  Cut cookies, then chill cut cookies for another 15 minutes.
7.  Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes for small cookies, and 10-15 minutes for
large cookies.
Glaze
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tbs of light corn syrup
  • 2 tbs of milk
  • food color as desired.
Directions: Stir powdered sugar, corn syrup, and milk together. Stir in food coloring if desired. This glaze must be stirred each time you use it. If it is not stirred before each use it will dry with a mottled look instead of a solid color.
