Renshaw Americas Gilded Cookie Tutorial

Renshaw Americas Gilded Cookie Tutorial

Renshaw Americas Brand Associate Partner, Reva Alexander-Hawk, shares a stunning tutorial for elegant royal-iced cookies. The beautiful cookies use the Renshaw Americas Shelf-Stable Royal Icing, which is a ready-made product developed for busy bakers and cakers. Reva notes, “I love the Renshaw and Rainbow dust product lines, and the royal icing is a must have. It’s so convenient to be able to use a high-quality off-the-shelf product without having to make a batch from scratch every-time I need a little icing for a project.” The Renshaw Royal Icing was developed with Brand Ambassador, Nicholas Lodge, and can be used on cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and more for everything from string work to stenciling. Check out the full tutorial below!

Components:

  • Sugar Cookies in a frame or plaque shape (cooled and ready for decorating)
  • Palette Knife
  • Scribe
  • Renshaw Shelf-Stable Royal Icing
  • Rainbow Dust Edible Metallic Paints – Gold, Baby Pink
  • Artists Paintbrush
  • Piping bag and Coupler
  • PME Piping tips Numbers #2, #3, #ST50

Renshaw White Royal Icing is a ready-to-use paste that is ideal for creating intricate shapes & flowers.
It is perfect for covering, piping, detail work and runouts on both cakes and biscuits. Fine writing and decorations can be achieved by using a number 1 or 2 nozzle.
Step 1: Start by icing your cookies with your preferred method, whether it is flooded or dipped just make sure your cookies are dry and the covering is even. Then, using an art screen and some edible luster dust, create a patterned design on your cookies.
Reva notes: Be careful not to smear your design.

2: With a piping bag fitted with a coupler and a bag filled with ivory tinted Renshaw Shelf Stable Royal Icing, start by piping swirls and twirls along the edge of your cookie with a variety of piping tips. I used PME tips number #2,#3, #ST50.

3: Once the royal icing has dried I use Rainbow Dust Edible Metallic Paints to guild the piped details.

Reva notes: To achieve a Rose Gold color I first paint on the Metallic Gold and then overpaint it with the Baby Pink Metallic.
