Color a small amount of white fondant with Wilton peach or orange.

Be sure to add only a very small amount of the color- you can always add a little more if you need it.

Break off two pieces of the kneaded fondant to create two balls, roll until nicely round. One should be about 2 inches in diameter and the other a little smaller.

2016-08-14 16.42.20

Roll the two balls into a loose sausage shape.

2016-08-14 16.42.44

Using the Dresden tool, form the fingernail by lightly pressing into the tip of the sausage.

Keep applying pressure and using the tool to shape a realistic nail bed.

2016-08-14 16.46.18

Use your own hand and fingers as a guide.

2016-08-14 16.47.48

Using the tool add in some realistic details to the knuckle and give the finger some realism.

2016-08-14 16.49.00

Use the tool to gentle hollow out the cut end of the finger, pressing into the fondant and rotating.

2016-08-14 16.50.18

Use the tool to fray the edges a little, to look like severed skin! (ewwwww)

2016-08-14 16.58.20

Repeat the above steps on the smaller sausage of fondant to create two severed fingers.

2016-08-14 16.51.19

Take some mirror glaze piping gel, white food color and a paintbrush.

2016-08-14 16.52.55

Paint the finger nail with a mixture of the white food color and the piping gel to give a realistic finish to the finger nail.

2016-08-14 17.00.21

Mix a little red edible food dust or edible food color with the piping gel and paint onto the severed end of the finger. Add a few blobs for an even more gruesome effect.

2016-08-14 17.03.33

Finish the finger with a few more dabs of the red “paint” and repeat to finish the smaller finger.

2016-08-14 17.05.33

The finished fingers are utterly gruesome and terrifyingly realistic; sure to frighten your trick or treaters this Halloween.
